The Boleyn Inheritance Book Review: SPOILER ALERT!!

The book I read was The Boleyn Inheritance written by Philippa Gregory. Published in 2006 by Touchstone, it has 528 pages.

In the book, there are 3 main characters: Jane Boleyn (evil/manipulative), Katherine Howard (naive/idiotic), and Anne of Cleves (foreign/strong). Other than these three, another important character is King Henry VIII. I guess you can say he is the center of all the problems. After Jane Seymore died from child birth, he wanted to marry... again. He became betrothed to Anne of Cleves (German), but he did not like her at all because she was not good looking. He only married her to gain power of Germany. Anne was very scared of going to England because she knew no English. Major language barrier right there!!! Jane Boleyn was Henry's sister, sister-in-law. She was the widow of George Boleyn. George was executed by the word of Henry for "commiting" incest with Henry's wife, George's sister, Anne Boleyn. Jane is a cuckoo person! To learn more about her: READ THIS AWESOME BOOK! Jane was I guess you could say the right hand woman of the Queen and little Katherine. Many secrets are discovered in this book and the past cannot be put into the past. The dead become alive haunting the living. At the end, things in England become calmer, much more peaceful.

DO I RECOMMEND THIS BOOK?!
YES I DO! BUT!!!!: to actually understand this book, it is best to read The Other Boleyn Girl. It all ties into the story of TBI. I am still in the process of reading the rest of the series and this author really paints the picture of the story in my head.

The Novel

The novel I chose to read is The Boleyn Inheritance. The book is historical fiction. I still haven't gotten really far in the book, but right now it's mostly introduction to the characters and it goes back in reference to "The Other Boleyn Girl". The chapters aren't normal chapters. They are cut into three people. I still haven't gotten the concept of the girls. They are women. I haven't gotten far in the book to know how the title wraps itself witht the few pages I've read. I selected this book because I am going in order with the whole series of the Tudors. Philippa Gregory has made me whirl myself in with this great series and I want to read them all.

(Dolce & Gabbana; Burger King)

In the Dolce & Gabbana advertisement it seems that the model is Madonna and she is washing dishes.  While washing dishes, she is wearing a dress from Dolce & Gabbana. I think the company sends the message that even housewives can wear that brand. I don’t really like how this ad was set up because it isn’t really relevant to how expensive the dress is. She is (semi) striking a pose while rinsing a plate. If the ad didn’t have the clothing logo I would have thought it was for Madonna’s CD or something along those lines.

In this Burger King advertisement it has a women dressed up as a gladiator (?) with spatulas, pans, a gigantic whisk and pan lids on her shoulders. She must be a huge cooking fan. I would see these types of ads in a magazine, a newspaper, and I think also mail in deals. I would advertise this in the restaurant. I think that the message on the ad means that they are the best for lunch food rather than their competitors.

MY SIX WORDS IN TWO LANGUAGES!

Something about me is that I'm really into Astrology. I am a believer. I was born July 7th which makes me a CANCER! Yes a sensitive, shy, attached to the past creature. Well, not a plain creature, a sea creature! A CRAB! An interesting fact about people born under Cancer is that we are Moon Children. This means that the Moon is our ruling planet. I know, "the moon isn't a planet!" I don't know what to tell you, I asked the same thing. But anyways, I based my six words on my Astrology sign: Cancer. Here it goes... in Italian and English!

In the near future these six words (in Italian) will become a part of me (aka my skin). When I feel down, I remember these words and I continue to be the positive me.

Better Late Than Never

Wanna know something that grinds MY grears?! How's about LOSING your laptop's wall charger somewhere around SRJC campus and when you want to use it, you have 10 minutes to use it. Thank goodness for friends with the same brand!

Anyways;; here's my review on "Faceless on Facebook" by Kate Beals.



Raise your hand if you have a Facebook! *Raised my hand!!* I have to be honest, when I first made my Facebook, I was totally going insane in the About Me section. I wanted my old friends to "like" me. It seemed like the author was going through the same thing. The difference between the author and myself is that she couldn't stand the pressure and she didn't want to seem fake.

Facebook is a place to stay connected whether it be long distance or not. For myself, I use FB to keep in touch with my family in Mexico. From what the author has said, she was pressured to have an account because her close friends had one. There really isn't a point for her to have a Facebook if she only wants one because her friends want one.

WHY DOES FACEBOOK DO THIS?! Because of social pressure. Great...

The New Blog Addiction

Hello! ¡Hola! Ciao! Hallo! My name is Lupe Aguilar and I am brand spanking new to blog.     I have friends that have a blog, but I have never thought I would blog alongside with them. Maybe after this semester I'll start my own (anonymous) blog. This is my second semester at SRJC and so far it is going grrrreat! This blog is for my English 100 class!

Our homework assignment was to look for an interesting advertisement and answer a few questions about it.



^^^^See that up there? That's Julianne Hough. Yep. Dancing with the Stars queen and yes, Ryan Seacrest's long time girlfriend.

Why is she holding that glass of milk and why the HECK does she have a MILK MUSTACHE?! That's not attractive!!! Well, that doesn't matter. She's getting paid thousands of dollars for this. But, I think she's just getting attention from teens in between 11-17. She sure knows how to dance! Personally, I did not watch DWTS. I have only saw her on those Proactiv commercials SAYING that she's from that dancing show.

This chick is not the only one that has done these types ads. I know Hayden Pantierre did! Basically HUNDREDS OF CELEBRITIES!!! I think it's anyone who is "hot" at the moment.

Do you think that the dancer is actually what's being sold? Well, maybe. But I think (the obvious picture) is for more people around the world to DRINK MILK! That's why the slogan is "Got Milk?" That slogan has to be a vary familiar one to anyone!

Now my question to you is: Got Milk?
